Ellipso TM Signal
EllipsoTM initially intended to use Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) transmissions to get the most effective capacity from a network. Voice rates were projected to be at 2400 bits per second, and data rates will go much higher, supporting 28.8kbps and even higher speeds in asymmetric patterns. Other value-added services include unified messaging, push-to-talk and global positioning services. In the combination of capabilities with ICO, a TDMA architecture will be implemented.
The user terminal original uplink frequencies are 1610.0 - 1621.5 MHz. The terminal receive frequencies are 2483.5 - 2500.0 MHz. Ellipso signals may be transmitted in either of two bands, a 2.5 MHz band or a 5 MHz band, depending on service type and operational conditions. Usually, mobile and handheld users will be assigned to the wide band, while fixed users are assigned to the narrow band. Within the ICO merged system these frequencies are in the 2GHz band.
Ellipso is also using a next generation air interface based on 3G (3rd generation) wireless technology. This helps reduce costs of our terminals and makes it easier to offer the most advanced wireless services available.
